Frankenstein

I have just finished reading the comic "Frankenstein" illustrated in color/colour. Mary Shelley wrote this famous horror classic long ago. Recently, I watched on TV the movie "Victor" based on "Frankenstein". I have not yet read the original novel, but I plan to do so very soon. After all, bookshops/bookstores and Flipkart and Amazon are always ready to serve eager bibliophiles (and biblio-maniacs like Me).

However, studying the comic closely, reading between the lines, I conclude that "Frankenstein" is in reality an extended metaphor, a symbolic horror story, and that it is actually about the constant hunting down and rape of Eve again and again in her numerous reincarnations over billions of years by evil Satan in his numerous reincarnations, and Eve's burning desire for revenge and destruction of Satan, and that:

The author "Mary Shelley" = Eve

Victor (the male protagonist) = Eve

The monster = Satan

Ditto, story of "Radha" in her numerous reincarnations pursued and raped again and again and again by evil Satan and his clones and his gang of male aliens again and again?

I think very few people living in Guwahati and in other places in Assam and in the other north-eastern states of India know that there is a BETTER WORLD BOOKS branch in Guwahati, with a rich stock of second-hand/used books in good condition for sale, at Panbazar in Guwahati, which is run by a charming and enterprising bespectacled young guy named Imran, whose family also owns three bookshops/bookstores in Panbazar in Guwahati. (Imran's late dad opened his first bookshop at Panbazar in Guwahati many years ago. Imran is the youngest in the family; his sister and brothers are older than him; his mom is a very sweet and courteous lady; Me and My consort attended his wedding party, which was about two years ago; his charming wife works at the State Bank of India head office in Dispur, Guwahati; I have forgotten her name, maybe Amina or something.) I have bought quite a number of excellent "used" books from Imran, including a massive science encyclopedia, which probably costs 10,000 to 15,000 rupees, for only about 3000 rupees. Imran's "BETTER WORLD BOOKS" shop cum library not only sells used books but is also a library cum reading room where you can read books if you become a library member for a small fee; it is located on the first floor of a building, on whose ground floor is WESTERN BOOK DEPOT, on its second floor live his mom and sister and brothers, and on the top floor - the third floor of the building - live Imran and his wife, in a newly constructed room built post his marriage. (It is perhaps natural that I have not been able to meet Imran post his marriage; I know that he is very busy visiting college libraries in Guwahati and other towns of Assam, giving these college libraries online access to scientific journals at low cost, he also runs a bookshop at an engineering college in Guwahati, and on Sundays he regularly goes with his wife to visit his in-laws living in Guwahati ; no wonder I have failed to meet dear Imran post his marriage; it is a fact that marriage can change most people, as everybody will testify.)

A few days ago, I wondered if any YouTube videos are available connected with Dr. Wilfred Funk, and I found only five or six YouTube videos under Dr. Wilfred Funk - none of them having anything to do with My American guru (the late?) American lexicographer Dr. Wilfred Funk - but one cartoon video I found - a dhoti-clad young male warrior jumping up and down with his sword to the accompaniment of music who goes on merrily slaying giant iron-clad male warriors one after another - was the funniest video I have ever seen.

I have just opened YouTube to locate that funny cartoon video to note down its title and duration to recommend it to My readers but I now find that there are lots of new videos under Dr. Wilfred Funk - I opened two of these videos - crazy songs by crazy females - I listened for one or two seconds - looked for other videos - I couldn't locate that funny cartoon video - but I was rewarded when I found and watched a very short but revolutionary video very much to My liking - it gives truly amazing short-cuts to mastering English that no book I have read has ever suggested: it is a wonderful short video that everybody should watch:

MAKING A GOOD FILM

To be a good film that is worth watching, a film should be interesting and exciting with no dull boring scenes that waste the film-watcher's time. ABOVE ALL, a film should have A GOOD STORY, embellished with sweet and melodious songs if possible.

Most Indian films have NO STORY but depend on CHEAP overused gimmicks like improbable fights and vulgar dances which irritate the cognoscenti; Indian films of the present generation are full of cacophonous ear-splitting songs with ineffective lyrics that have no impact written by incompetent lyricists who have not mastered the language and directed by upstart callow overadvertised music directors who can only produce very mediocre songs far below the very high standard set by some evergreen Hindi film songs of yesteryear sung by Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar and Mohd. Rafi and Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle and one Anand song by Manna Dey et al and some evergreen Bengali songs of Lata Mangeshkar and Sandhya Mukherjee and Hemanta Mukherjee and "তুমি যে আমার ওগো তুমি যে আমার" by Geeta Dutt and "এমন স্বপ্ন কখনো দেখিনি আমি" (I am not sure who actually sang the ORIGINAL of this beautiful LP song that I first heard in Chicago many years ago in My uncle's house; I remember the name of this beautiful song's music director which was printed on the LP record but I have heard people on TV giving the names of other music directors, so I will not reveal the name I saw printed on the LP record) et al and some beautiful evergreen Assamese songs of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and Deepali Borthakur and Sudakshina Sarma and Usha Mangeshkar et al. (I have used the appropriate phrase "et al" instead of "etc.")

Films can use adaptations of wonderful plays and short stories by শরৎ চন্দ্র চট্টোপাধ্যায়, "Shakespeare", Chekhov, etc.

I believe that films are too long - two to two-and-a-half hours is too much time, I think; like 5-day cricket test matches changed to fast T-20s, long films should have much shorter and more exciting film versions!
