দেবযানী

দেবযানী অসুরদের গুরু শুক্রের সুন্দরী কন্যা । দেবতাদের গুরু বৃহস্পতির পুত্র কচ যখন মৃতসঞ্জীবনী বিদ্যা আয়ত্ব করার জন্য শুক্রের শিষ্যত্ব নিয়ে গুরুগৃহে ছিলেন, তখন দেবযানী কচের প্রেমে পরেন । এই সময়ে অসুররা কচের অভিসন্ধি বুঝতে পেরে ওঁকে কয়েকবার হত্যা করার চেষ্টা করেন । কিন্তু প্রতিবারই দেবযানী সেটা জানতে পেরে পিতাকে দিয়ে সঞ্জীবনী বিদ্যা প্রয়োগ করিয়ে মৃত কচকে পুনর্জীবিত করান । সঞ্জীবন বিদ্যা আয়ত্ব হবার পর কচ যখন গুরুগৃহ ত্যাগ করছেন, তখন দেবযানী কচকে বলেন তাঁকে বিবাহ করতে । দেবযানী তাঁর পূজনীয় গুরুকন্যা, ভগিনী-তুল্য ইত্যাদি বলে কচ রাজি হন না। দেবযানী তাতে ক্রুদ্ধ হয়ে কচকে অভিশাপ দেন যে, কচ সঞ্জীবনী বিদ্যা অর্জন করা সত্বেও - সেই বিদ্যা প্রয়োগ করতে পারবেন না। কচ তার উত্তরে দেবযানীকে বললেন যে, তিনি নিজে প্রয়োগ না করতে পারলেও, যাঁকে শেখাবেন তিনি পারবেন । আর যেহেতু কামবশে দেবযানী কচকে (ঋষিপুত্র) চাইছেন, কোনও ঋষিপুত্রকেই দেবযানী পতি হিসেবে পাবেন না । এর কিছুকাল পরে একদিন দেবযানীর সঙ্গে তাঁর সখী অসুরপতি বৃষপর্বার কন্যা শর্মিষ্ঠার বচসা হয়। শর্মিষ্ঠা ক্রোধান্বিত হয়ে দেবযানীকে একটি কূপের মধ্যে ফেলে দেন। রাজা যযাতি মৃগয়া শেষে সেই কূপে জল খেতে এসে দেবযানীকে উদ্ধার করেন । পরে রাজা যযাতির সঙ্গে দেবযানীর বিয়ে হয় এবং যদু ও তুব্রসু নামে ওঁর দুই পুত্র হয় । যদুর থেকে যাদব [Yadav] বংশ [যদু বংশ] এবং তুব্রসু থেকে যবন জাতির উদ্ভব হয়েছে ।

Now that both of My above two email IDs are public (since I have voluntarily made known to the world the passwords to BOTH of the gmail IDs for the public good), I will naturally use another gmail ID for all My personal emails. I want to add that the two mobile phone numbers given above - which may sometimes be required to access My two (public) gmail IDs - are NOT for personal phone calls by all and sundry. My time is precious; I cannot afford to waste time in idle talk. This may sound very harsh and brutal but I am not a good-for-nothing sugary guy/seni (চেনি in Assamese = চিনি).

খ্রীষ্ট শুনতে কেষ্ট (= কৃষ্ণ) মনে হয় ৷ According to a very interesting Internet source, Krishna became the King of Jerusalem after his capital Dwaraka was (deliberately?) flooded and Dwaraka sank under the sea. Jesus Christ was born at Bethlehem out of the union of "God" and "Virgin" Mary. Of course, many guys can have the name Jesus just as there may be lakhs of guys who have the name Krishna. An intriguing bestseller about Jesus/Christ is "THE GOOD MAN JESUS AND THE SCOUNDREL CHRIST" by British novelist and scholar Philip Pullman. I believe that the latest reincarnation of Christ, who has a talent for singing, is at present living incognito in a rather backward village in India, somehow surviving with his poor family, with no known source of income. (By the way, I find that there is a striking resemblance in the facial appearances of the comic Indian actor Amol Palekar and Manohar Parrikar the present BJP defence minister of India. I wonder if they are CLONES.)
